ALTAR AND ROSARY GUILD
The Altar and Rosary Guild of St. Ignatius of Antioch Church invites all women of its Parish community to become members of the Guild. The Guild helps to maintain the altar and articles used for Mass including candles and altar linens. We support Parish activities. Meetings are held the third Thursday in October, December, March, and May at 6:30 p.m. Our meetings are open to both men and women. The December meeting is typically a Christmas program with a Sing-a-Long. Door Prizes and a 50/50 raffle are also part of every meeting. The Altar and Rosary Guild has provided many years of service to St. Ignatius Parish. Membership in the Guild also provides many benefits to its members, such as mass intentions during the year. Dues are $5.00 per year.

Please join us in the McIntyre Center on Thursday, December 15th at 6:30 p.m. for our annual Christmas Party and meeting. Ice Cream and Cake will be provided. Charlie and Joe Sikora will be there with their guitars for a nice Christmas musical program. Guests are most welcome. Our mission is to be of service to our parish church. Come and join us. For more information, call the Parish House at (216) 251-0300.

SISTER NATIVA
Sister Juanita Shealey, CSJ,
(Sister Nativa), Celebrates 60 Years as a Sister of Saint Joseph
Saint Ignatius of Antioch Parish was delighted to host a Celebration Mass and reception on February 27, 2011 for Sister Juanita Shealey, CSJ, a member of the Congregation of Saint Joseph.

Best known as Sister Nativa, she is admired throughout Greater Cleveland as a passionate disciple of Christ, educator, and community advocate. As an educator, Sister’s first assignment was at Saint Ignatius of Antioch where she taught for 13 years. She was the Honoree of the 2007 Saint Ignatius of Antioch Alumni Boulevard Bash. Other assignments were Principal at Saint Aloysius, teacher at Saint Agnes and Virginia Marti, and campus minister at Cuyahoga Community College. She has also served as the Director of Advocacy for the United States Department of Commerce in Business Development.
In 2003, Sister Nativa received the First Thea Bowman Lifetime Achievement Award from the Diocese of Cleveland Office of Ministry to African American Catholics for her strong leadership and service within the black community. She and her family were members of Saint Adalbert Catholic Church, the first black Catholic church in Cleveland, until its recent closing.
For 25 years, Sister did the sign on and sign off meditation on local television stations. Currently, she hosts “God’s Saving Word,” a local radio call-in program heard every Sunday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on WERE 1490 AM. Sister still finds time to be involved in the Social Justice Committee of the Congregation of Saint Joseph, and is a member of the Catholic Interracial Council of Greater Cleveland.
Sister Juanita Shealey’s long service to Catholics, our community, and to God are without parallel. She always has a smile and positive words of encouragement for all who come into contact with her.
